Review: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare (non-spoiler)

Clokwork Princess
by Cassandra Clare

This is a non-spoiler review. I will not go into detail about the story, I just want to tell you my feelings about it.

The Infernal Devices is about a girl named Tessa. After her aunt death , she decides to move to London and start over alongside her older brother, who recently moved there. As soon as she arrives her life takes an unexpected turn and, before she knows it, she is evolved in a society where Shadowhunters, werewolves, vampires and warlocks are not only real but she may be one of them. What is she? Nobody knows but she's different.

Where shall I start? How about how good this series is?!?!?!? I loved every single aspect of it! I had already read The Mortal Instruments and I love it as well. I can't say which series I loved the most because they cannot be separated. They are connected in a way that will make you beg for more. Lady Midnight was already one of my most anticipated releases but after reading clockwork princess I can't wait any longer. Please Cassandra Clare, hurry up!

This book made me feel so many things that I'm having trouble writing it down, I can't form a coherent though! It made me laugh, and it made me cry. I actually knew what was going to happen because I spoiled myself by reading City of Heavenly Fire. Even after all the warnings I still read it. I loved it anyway. It was a brilliant conclusion for this trilogy and it connected perfectly with The Mortal Instruments.

I recommend this books to everybody. Cassandra Clare's writing is beautiful and so are her stories. I'd read anything by her.

Review: Hopeless

Hopeless
by Colleen Hoover

book rate:

Brief Introduction (from goodreads):

Sky Davis is starting sixth form having always been home-schooled, and wants to keep a low profile. But then she runs into Dean Holder - messy brown hair, smouldering blue eyes, and a temper straight out of Fight Club, someone who Sky is determined to avoid.

There is something about Holder that sparks memories of Sky's troubled past, those which she would rather stay buried. Little does she know that the mysterious Dean Holder is harbouring secrets of his own . . .

When the truth unravels, Sky must piece her life back together and learn to trust again. Only by facing the revelations together can the two of them begin to heal their emotional scars and find a way to live without boundaries.

Review:

I bought "Hopeless" because I had heard a lot about Colleen Hoover's "Slammed" (a book I'm really looking forward to read!) and when I saw this on a shelf at my local bookshop I didn't even think twice. Only when I got home did I even remember to read the sinopsis and check if this book was a stand alone or a first in a series! At the time I thought I had made my first impulse buy and that it had been a really bad one but guess what? I had never been so wrong.

"Hopeless" exceeded my expectations not only plot-wise but also in the deepness of the characters. Initially I thought Sky and Holder would be the typical borken kids that find each other and somehow mend all the broken pieces of their pasts in order to be happily in love for the rest of their lives. So not true. Sooo not true!

Sky is such a complex character, she feels so much and so little at the same time. And she is not broken by her past because she has no idea what her past is. And Holder can be quite a jerk sometimes, but aren't real life teenage boys like that too? These characters are so realistic it hurts! Their reactions are very relatable and as this is a story during which Sky and Holder learn their real stories too we come across a lot of different and strong reactions.

It's not a life changing book (at least not for me), but it will stick to your thoughts for a pretty long while. I can't tell you much about the story or else I would ruin it for you, but trust me when I say it's a pretty intense book! Do recommend and am definetily looking forward to reading Losing Hope.

Brief Introduction To The Series (from goodreads):

She is only nineteen. She is his new stepfather’s daughter. She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother. But for 24 year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.

Review:

This series has a pretty good start. "Fallen Too Far" presents us with a young and innocent-looking Blair who is actually, or so I thought, a very strong, determined and hard-working girl. Actually, Blair's character was the main reason why I even finished this series.

To be honest the more I read after the first book, the more I thought "this is terrible, I should just put it down". And I should have. From the second book on Blair's realtionship with Rush becomes an obsession for both of them and they stop being independent beings even! Which honestly is something that really makes me uncomfortable about romantic relationships... The other characters have almost no importance for the story whatsoever and everything starts being related to Blair+Rush love and sex. I thought this books became more erotic than that cutsy romantic thing I was expecting.

Long story short (as really I don't have much to say other than this about this series), this story was 100% not for me. The first book is worth reading, from then on I do not recommend.

Review: The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave
by Rick Yancey

Synopsis:
THE 1ST WAVE
Took out half a million people
THE 2ND WAVE
Put that number to shame
THE 3RD WAVE
Lasted a little longer,
Twelve weeks...four billion dead
IN THE 4TH WAVE,
You can't trust that people are still people.
AND THE 5TH WAVE?
No one knows,.
But it's coming.

Before starting this review I want to thank Rebeca for giving this book to me. You're the best ❤

Review:

If that synopsis didn't made you buy the book immediately I don't know what you're doing with your life, seriously, once I read that I knew the book had to be read as soon as possible! It didn't disappoint! I loved this book and I'm looking forward to read the following books in this series!

I'm not going into full detail about this book because I think it's best to go into it without knowing to much about the plot, and the book it self. The only thing I knew about it was that there were aliens. It was probably why I loved the book so much. I was surprised and confused in the most pleasant why you can imagine!

All the characters are full of surprises, you think you know what they are about to do, and then they do the opposite, it was unnerving most the most the times, but in the good way.

Also the plot is full of twists and turns, you never really know what really is happening. Every time you finally understand what is going on, you read something else and everything changes! I was constantly trying to make sense of all that but I couldn't, I was constantly being taken aback.

Because if I am the last one, then I am humanity.

And if this is humanity's last war, then I am the battlefield.

I highly recommend The 5th Wave, it was the best book I've read so far this year! It was everything I was hoping for and more. If you haven't read the book, go buy it, read it, and then comment down below telling me what you thought about it!

Feature and Follow #14

Feature and Follow Friday is a meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Question of the Week: Do you own any doubles of your books? What led to getting that second...or third or fourth...copy?

I don't own doubles of my books because. However, I really want to buy the physical book of some books I already own in e-book formant. Some of those I bought because they were a lot cheaper and because I didn't think I'd love them as much as I did. Now I want to add them to my collection, but I'd rather save my money and buy new books that I haven't read before.

What about you? Do you usually buy doubles? Leave your answer on the comment section down below!

Waiting On Wednesday #13

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating!

I Was Here
By Gayle Forman

Expected publication: January 27th 2015 by Viking Juvenile

From Goodreads:
Cody and Meg were inseparable.
Two peas in a pod.
Until . . . they weren’t anymore.

When her best friend Meg drinks a bottle of industrial-strength cleaner alone in a motel room, Cody is understandably shocked and devastated. She and Meg shared everything—so how was there no warning? But when Cody travels to Meg’s college town to pack up the belongings left behind, she discovers that there’s a lot that Meg never told her. About her old roommates, the sort of people Cody never would have met in her dead-end small town in Washington. About Ben McAllister, the boy with a guitar and a sneer, who broke Meg’s heart. And about an encrypted computer file that Cody can’t open—until she does, and suddenly everything Cody thought she knew about her best friend’s death gets thrown into question.

I Was Here is Gayle Forman at her finest, a taut, emotional, and ultimately redemptive story about redefining the meaning of family and finding a way to move forward even in the face of unspeakable loss.

Book Discussion: Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

This is a book discussion therefore there WILL BE SPOILERS. However I will briefly say what my thoughts were in general without spoiling the book \ series for you. I will warn you before the spoilery part!

Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3)
By Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me Synopsis From Goodreads:

I have a curse

I have a gift

I am a monster
I'm more than human

My touch is lethal
My touch is power

I am their weapon
I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Review:

This is one of the most beautiful written series I've ever read. Just reading the book is worth it because of the writing. The story itself is also very entertaining and easy to read. I recommend this series to anyone who likes a good dystopian. I promise this one won't disappoint! For more of my thoughts check out Shatter Me review

SPOILER PART BEGINS HERE! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK AND
DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED

The author ends the second book with a huge cliffhanger, if you read the books you know what I'm talking about. I thought I was going crazy while I was waiting to start the last one. The wait was worth it! I do love a good dystopian and this one didn't disappoint!

Juliette's world is upside down, she was just shot in the chest by the devil, aka Anderson, and she actually survived thanks to Warner and she has no idea if her friends are alive, she is confused, angry and desperate. However she's not the same girl anymore, she was given a second chance and she wasn't going to waste it. She wanted revenge and nothing could stop her.

Juliette grows so much in this last instalment, she finally stops feeling sorry for herself. She is no longer a weak little girl who needs protection. I was so glad to see this transformation, having her crying all the time was so irritating! She turned out be an amazing hero. So sure of herself and her abilities, she accepted who she was and had full control of her and her "super powers".  I'm so thankful for that, the world would be a better place if there were more girls like her. I was enchanted when she decided to step up and lead the country. She didn't even expect another person to do it!

"Juliette, love," he says to me, still holding my eyes. "You have just started a war"
The only thing that annoyed me was the how indecisive she was about Adam and Warner, I mean, it was obvious who she loved. Luckily it didn't last long and she made up her mind.

Ever a since the second book that I've been team Warner. Adam started to get really annoying and just so flat in personality. I know he has worried and all but that was not an excuse to act the way he did, specially after Fracture MeWhen we get to the third book his the stupidest bastard ever! I wanted to kill him for what he said to Juliette, he said he rather she was dead! That's not acceptable! I started to hate him so much!

On the other hand we have Warner. We see a completely new side of him in this book. We finally learn why he acted the way he did and I was so happy when Juliette saw him for what he truly was. He showed vulnerability, and it was beautiful to see his relationship evolve with Juliette.

It's the kind of kiss that inspires the stars to climb into the sky and light up the world
The moment she found him completely destroyed was heartbreaking, after his mother's death. I felt my heart break into tinie little pieces.

And we were quotation marks, inverted and upside down, clinging to one another at the end of this life sentence.
Her relationship with Kenji was just superb! They got even closer and I don't think she could have a better friend. Kenji was absolutely amazing! One of the best character I've ever read about. Once more, life would be better if there were more friends like Kenji!

The only upside down was the end. Not that I didn't like it, I really did, but I found it to be too abrupt. Everything happened to fast. However  the last sentence brilliant. The author had a way to end the book that I will never forget. I'm sure that I'll constantly wonder what happened after that last sentence.

"You know," he whispers, his lips at my ear, "the whole world will be coming for us now."
I lean back. Look into his eyes
"I can't wait to watch them try"
Once more Tahereh Mafi's writing was beautiful, amazing and unforgettable. I'm glad I picked this series and I will definitely read more of this author if she writes more books.
