Rebeca's July Wrap Up

Hahaha jokes on me, I read XXX books this book but only XXX are from my 6-book July TBR list...

From said list I read:

  • Musical Chairs by Sheila Levin
  • City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
  • Fresh Meat by B. Bentley Summer
  • Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
  • Caroline Starts Over by Randi M. Sherman
  • Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead

(if you click the book's title you'll be able to read my review on each of them)

And the little pricks that unfairly (to my tbr books) called my attention were:

  • Good Intentions by Pembroke Sinclair
  • ...
  • ...

(same thing if you want to read the review)

Anyway I can't complain, it was a good reading month considering I had all my finals happening all over me.. and well, all the other students too.. but I'm the focus here!!! (jk I'm glad we are all on vacations finally :) )

Rebeca's June Wrap Up

This month I managed to be very productive, I finished my college project before the deadline, did a few more things I had planned to do in my personal life and managed to read most of my planned TBR. I'll wrap it up here and you'll be able to read the reviews of the books I've read by clicking on them:

Regarding the unplanned books I read, here you have a list:

  • The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
  • Saga (Volume 2) by Brian K. Vaughan
  • Frostbite by Richelle Mead

I'm really happy overall! :)

Isabel's August Wrap Up (Part two)

This is the second part of my wrap up (Part 1)

Crush (Crush #1)
By Lacey Weatherford

rate: ★★★☆ (2.5/5)

I found this book for free on Kobo, and I download it because it sound like an OK book. And that was exactly what it was. It was an entertaining read but I had a few problems with it. The dialogues reminded me of those that I used to see in my English course books in school, they didn't feel real. I also found the plot predictable. However it still was a fun read with good characters! But I still don't think I'll continue on with this series.

Prodigy (Legend #2)
By Marie Lu

rate: ★★★★★ (5/5)

I loved this book so much! It broke my heart in the end, and I'm so looking forward to read Champion, I have to read as soon as possible! Prodigy was even better than Legend and I found myself flying through it, completely immersed in this story!

Secret Army (Henderson's Boys #3)
By Robert Muchamore

rate: ★★★☆ (4/5)

This is one of the few middle grade series I read. I've been enjoying reading the Henderson's Boys series although I don't like it as much as Cherub. If you're a fun of middle grade I recommend you Robert Muchamore's books. They are super fun and easy to read!

The Cuckoo's Calling
By Robert Galbraith

rate: ★★★★★ (5/5)

I hadn't read an adult book in ages! But I'm so glad I picked this one up! Like in every J.K. Rowling book the writing is perfect. It is mysterious and encourages you to resolve the mystery alongside with Strike and Robin. I had never read anything like this and I recommend this book to anyone, even if you don't read adult books, I usually don't read it and I loved it anyway!
Meant to Be
By Lauren Morrill

rate: ★★

I didn't have any exceptions for this book, and I'm glad I didn't since it turned out to be unsatisfactory. I had many problems with Meant to Be, but the main one was the main Character. She was boring! In my opinion the author tried to hard to portrait Julia has the super saint girl. She had straight As  , was obsessive compulsive and only thought about swimming practise, homework and her "MTB" boy. As a result, Julia's character ended up being flat, she didn't have any more traits than the ones mentioned above. A book with a boring main character will be a boring book. If you want to read more about this book read Rebeca's full review.

Choosing You (Jade #1)
By Allie Everhart

rate: ★★☆ (3.25/5)

Choosing you was a good read. It was funny, sweet and interesting. I loved the two main characters, they were funny and entertaining. I gave it 3.25 stars because it just didn't wow me like some contemporaries do, but I still had settle a difference between this and the second book which I didn't like as much. If you're looking for a funny easy read with a little drama and rich, hot guys I recommend it to you.

Knowing You (Jade #2)
By Allie Everhart

rate: ★★☆  (3/5)

I also found this entertaining but not as much as the first one. I really don't know why, I can't put my finger in it. Maybe because I found it a little to dramatic and predictable as well. It also didn't push me to continue on with this series, which is quite book, so I don't think I'll keep reading it.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1)
By Richelle Mead

rate:  ★★☆ (4/5)

I FINALLY READ THIS BOOK! I've been meaning to for so long, but I never buy it for some reason! I'm so glad I did! It was nothing like I was expecting, I didn't really know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. I enthusiastic to read the rest of the series, I can't wait!
Obsession
By Jennifer L. Armentrout

rate: ★★☆  (3.5/5)

I enjoyed read this book. I had no exceptions for this book. Being a huge fun of the good Luxen I didn't know how I'd feel about reading about an Arum. It was not quite what I was expecting, I was surprised. Of course Arum are dark creatures, but there is more to them then what Luxen say. I liked Hunter, he was rude but in a fun way. I loved how much this character developed and how he turned out to be. Although I liked this book I can't give it a higher rate because I read the Lux series and I loved it to much, I really don't know how to explain this but for some reason I can't read this without thinking of Daemon and Katy and compare them to Serena and Hunter (we all know which couple is my favourite). That said, Obsession was worth reading and I recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal and romance.

Those were all of the books I read this month! Have you read this books? If so, what did you though of them? Let me know your opinion on the comments.

Rebeca's August Wrap Up

I ACCOMPLISHED MY AUGUST TBR GOALS! YEYYY!

Okay, so... I managed to read all my August TBR books without digressing too much. Now that's an achievement! I read a few more books too so I guess we could say it was a good month. Sweet sweet August!

Now back to the point, here's my August wrap up post for you guys:

Last Summer
by Rebecca A. Rogers
book rate: ★☆☆☆☆

I still regret the time I spent reading Last Summer. I got absolutely nothing out of it, I found the storyline grew more and mroe incoherent throughout the book and the relationships between the characters were rather unrealistic. Would not recommend.

Full Review

Unspoken
by Sarah Rees Brennan
book rate: ☆☆

Unspoken is a book I had on my tbr list for a while and therefore I quite accomplished when I finished it. The storyline itself is good, not life changing. but still good. The thing that left me the most satisfied about this book were the characters. Kami, the main character is smart, independent, fair and caring. Qualities I value a lot! Characters like Jared, Ash and Rosalind were very intriguing and characters like Rusty and Angela were very likeable and easy to relate to.

Untold
by Sarah Rees Brennan
book rate: ☆☆

I found Untold very slow paced compared to Unspoken. A good book nonetheless and left me looking forward to reading Unmade, the third and final book of the Lynburn Legacy triology, which is expected to come out on the 23rd of September this year.

We Were Liars
by E. Lockhart
book rate:

We Were Liars is the type of book that will keep you on the edge through the whole story, you won't be able to put it down until you solve its mystery. And I have to say... it's quite a big mystery.
The characters are very relatable and the relationships between them are very consistent. The story takes place in the perfect location and everything about it is very gripping. There's not much to say about really except: read it. Specially if you want to keep your mind off something because this will occuppy every bit of space in your head.

Full Review

Clockwork Angel
by Cassandra Clare
book rate:

Clockwork Angel is the first book of The Infernal Devices triology, the prequel to The Mortal Instruments collection. (If you don't know what TMI is then go to your bookstore, buy it and read it. Now!)
This book was so good! I couldn't believe Cassandra Clare's ability to create so many loveable characters. I found myself adoring them when I was just half way through the book!
The story line is gripping as well and left me in a serious need to get my hands on Clockwork Prince, the second book in TID and the next mini-reviewed book on my wrap-up.

Clockwork Prince
by Cassandra Clare
book rate:

Clockwork Prince was just as good as Clockwork Angel. I fell even more in love with the characters and I couldn't possibly be more looking forward to reading the next and last book of this triology, Clockwork Princess. I trust Cassandra Clare will wrap up this story nicely as she always does.

Fangirl
by Rainbow Rowell
book rate:

Fangirl exceeded my expectations. Everythigng about this book produced some kind of emotion in me, I was always either smiling, laughing or very serious about the whole business Fangirl brings to the reader. The characters are perfect, incredibly realistic and the relationships established are so gripping, the storyline coeherent, everything about this book is so amazing!
The only reason I rated it so low (for all the awesomeness it is) is that it didn't exactly teach you anything... there was no moral of this story, no important message, and that'ssomething I value a lot about books. But besides that it's an amazing book, super entertaining. Recommend 100% if you're looking for a good time reading a book.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
by Jennifer E. Smith
book rate: ☆☆

To be honest, I had high expectations about The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight which did not correspond to the reality of this book. It's a good story (not as predictable as it might seem in the beginning) and there are good characters. It's not just a story about love, it's also about acceptance and forgiveness and I found this a good change in the world of contemporary YA books I've been reading. The only downside really was the main character, I found her so uninteresting and very little coeherent... But an entertaining read, nevertheless.

Meant to Be
by Lauren Morrill
book rate: ★☆☆☆☆

Another book I regret spending time reading, Meant to Be was the typical contemporary except worse because I couldn't bring myself to believe the main characters were really in love. Besides, the main female character was probabily one of the most boring characters I've come across in a while... Would not recommend.

Isabel's August Wrap Up (Part 1)

I read a total of 18 books this month! I had a great reading month! I loved most of the books I read! Since this post will be too big, I'll divide it in two parts. I'll post the second one tomorrow!

Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2)
By Cassandra Clare

rate: ★★★ (4.5/5)

I loved this book! I had liked Clockwork Angel, but I liked this one ever more! I loved that we get to know more about Will, and that Jem is more present in the sorry! I also loved to read under different characters perspectives like Sophie and Charlotte! I'm so looking forward to read Clockwork Princess! I can't wait!

Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1)
By Kasie West
rate:  ★★★☆ (4/5)

After reading The Distance Between us, I knew I had to read more of Kasie West. I was excited to dive into Pivot Point and it didn't disappoint. It was entertaining and fun. I loved that we were able to see the contrast between the too lives she could have. It was not what I was expecting when I picked it up since I didn't read the synopsis. But I still loved it, and after I finished I picked the second and final book in this duology.
Split Second (Pivot Point #2)
By Kasie West

rate: ★★★☆ (4/5)

In my opinion this was the perfect away to end this book! At first I didn't like the fact that it was written in two point of views quickly changed my mind. I love to read from the PV of this two characters and understand them better. I loved how it ended and I'd recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a nice and easy read which also has action, mystery and love.

Opposition (Lux #5)
By Jennifer L. Armentrout

rate: ★★★★ (5/5)

The fifth and final book of the Lux series was the perfect way to end this series. The Lux series is one of my favourite series of all time and I will always have a special place in my heart for it.

Lola and the Boy Next Door
By Stephanie Perkins

rate: ★★★ (4.5/5)

I loved Anna and the French Kiss when I first read it and I was eager to get my hands on this one! I obvious loved it!

Anna and the French Kiss
By Stephanie Perkins

rate: ★★★ (4.5/5)

After finishing Lola I had the urge to re-read Anna. I thought it was not possible, but I loved it even more the second time!

Trying Not to Love You
By Megan Smith

rate: ★★☆ (1.5/5)

This book was a bad choice. I didn't like it all and I had a lot of problems with it. Since this was the not the first NA contemporary I read and disliked I promised myself I'd swear off NA. Luckily I changed my mind and gave it a try again with Maybe Someday, but we'll get there in a few.

Ready Player One
By Ernest Cline

rate: ★★★ (4.5/5)

I read this book because it was the book read-a-long in The Little Book Haul Book Club, and I'm so glad I participated because I don't think I'd pick this book up by myself. I loved it! It took some time to get into it. The start is a little slow paced but when I finally got through the world building and such I really enjoyed myself! I had never anything like it and I really enjoyed it. If you don't know, this book is about a video game, but it was written in such away that I had to remind myself that if the characters died in the game, it was only in the game, they would still be alive it real life. I recommend this book to anyone, boys and girls alike.

Maybe Someday
By Colleen Hoover

rate: ★★★ (4.5/5)

I loved this book so much! I was not expecting to love it this much! It's so good! Best NA I've ever read!
